Nephew - 1 year old - loved the mirror and squeak button. I don't know how it's held up since, but for the week we were with him, it did just great. Just know this isn't the full version of the book. It's for the littlest kids with the shortest attention spans.
Instead of a baby card, I gave this book. She loved it.
I have read the negative reviews on this book however I found it to be a perfect book for Young Toddlers! I agree that it is missing text from the full size book however it is Made for Babies and Toddlers! I bought it for my 2 year old Toddler Grandson for a Birthday gift! It has held up Great to his abuse and I found the words/text to be Perfect for his age!
The egg only squeaked about five times and broke. My baby keeps trying to press it and is frustrated that he can't get the squeak again.
The abridged version of the story is ok; some of the rhyming doesn't quite work.
Other Dr. Seuss board books are better. My baby loves Hop on Pop. The Thinks... and The Shape... are good too.
The toy is a little bit distracting.
My baby (9mos) loves playing with the toy -- loves the toy so much it's hard to read her the story.
We often read "Mr Brown Can Moo. Can you?" and she happily sits through the whole book and helps me turn the pages. That book is just a book with no toys affixed.
We haven't got that far with "Green Eggs and Ham" because the toy distracts her.. but then, she really likes the toy.
The sound effect does not work. That part of the toy arrived non-functional.
The green egg which spins when touched would be great for the toddler age. It seems durable. This egg offers one more "sense" other than auditory. It would aid in brain development.
Daughter loves it. We read it all the time!! We have had this book for over a year. My now 25 month old has graduated to the whole version. This one is a short version of the original but long enough and very entertaining for little ones
